Freedom Aged Care Bendigo

Your home in the heart of it all, right here in Bendigo

Freedom Aged Care Bendigo is not just any aged care community, it is one of Freedom's Home Care Communities - a genuine alternative to a nursing home.  It is a vibrant, loving community that provides you not only with an extraordinary level of lifestyle, but also companionship and care through every stage of your ageing journey.

This lifestyle also allows you to enjoy the privacy and independence of your very own Freedom home. Our units offer unrivaled accommodation complete with your own kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom, laundry and courtyard. (You even have your own front door!)

Freedom assisted living fully supports its residents who wish to become more familiar with the Bendigo area. We suggest taking the four minute drive to Brennan Park swimming pool to get some laps in; or for a fun day out take the grandkids or great-grandkids, where you can take advantage of the centre’s playground, bbq area, kiosk and toddlers pool. The Bendigo Fun Factory is only a short one minute walk for those looking for a more immediate way to entertain their grandchildren. Another great option for a day out would be to take the two minute drive to Kennington reservoir where you can enjoy a relaxing stroll along the established trail, go fishing in the reservoir or feed the ducks from the water’s edge.

This isn’t just a place to live, it’s a place to belong, to thrive, to share and to celebrate.  Welcome to our 'Freedom family' in the heart of Bendigo.

Feel free to come in for a cuppa and a chat to let us show you the truly unique Aged Care Community that is Freedom

The Freedom Difference

Care & Support

Our Home Care Community - Bendigo

Freedom Aged Care offers 24-hour personalised care and support for our residents. Our specialised aged care team are on hand 24/7 to offer care that is tailored to individual needs. The care we provide at Freedom rivals the care you would receive from home care or from any other aged care provider, including residential care and nursing homes.

Freedom Aged Care's ethos is based on encouraging and supporting our residents through a personal understanding of their requirements, difficulties and challenges and developing clinical care procedures based on evidence and best practices.

The care and support we provide at Freedom changes and evolves with you through every stage of the ageing journey, meaning you should never have to move again.

The difference in care that we offer starts before you even move in, with no Means Testing or ACAT required prior to moving into your Freedom home. We strive to make the process as seamless as possible allowing you to focus on your transition to your new adventure.

Freedom Aged Care now offers Respite Care, also known as ‘short-term care’, where you or your loved one can enjoy all the amazing benefits of living at Freedom, while providing a break for your primary carer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Want to know more, or have a different question? Send us a message and we will be happy to help!

Can I bring my pet?

Pets are welcome at Freedom Aged Care Bendigo and actively encouraged.  Your pet will be assessed when you join Freedom, to ensure they will fit in to the community and thrive as part of the Freedom family.  Read more about our pet-friendly communities here.

Can I have my family and friends visit anytime I want?

Yes! We love having visitors and do not have set visiting hours.  It is your Freedom home, so you can have visitors as you please and they can even stay overnight with you if you wish.

What type of daily activities occur at your community?

There is always something going on at our Freedom communities, arranged by the onsite team and tailored to each community, a calendar of events will be displayed in your community newsletter or noticeboard.  Whether it be a bus trip, indoor bowls, themed lunch, or Happy Hour, there is something for everyone in our vibrant communities.  Find out more here.

Will I be separated from my spouse or partner?

At Freedom, couples stay together. We are totally committed to ensuring couples stay together, regardless of their changing health needs.  Find out more about living at Freedom as a couple here.

What is the difference between Freedom Aged Care and a nursing home?

At Freedom you will have your own private self-contained home, whereas nursing homes are typically in communal buildings, where you have limited privacy and independence.  As a genuine alternative to a nursing home, you will have access to 24-hour aged care that evolves with you through all stages of your journey.  From everyday support for those with minimal care needs (such as assistance with cleaning, nutrition, or social activities), high clinical care, dementia and memory impairment therapy, and palliative care when the time comes.  Balanced with activities, social interaction and entertainment, providing total quality of life for those living there, rather than focusing on only immediate care like most nursing homes.  At Freedom you can continue to live with your spouse and pets and keep your family together, whereas this is not always possible in a nursing home.  More about our home care communities here.

What are the costs?

There is an initial purchase price when you buy your new Freedom home and weekly fees for community services and 24/7 personal care. Weekly services charges and care fees are set at a level that covers Freedom’s costs and no more, and those on the Age Pension can defer a portion of these costs. Residents can also access government-funded care packages that help cover the cost of care, and can be used toward purchasing equipment and consumables.

At the end of your time with Freedom, Freedom keeps a percentage of the resale price of your Freedom home, which is known as a deferred management fee (DMF). The DMF covers the costs involved in providing all the wonderful amenities you enjoy as a resident in your village community. This DMF is set as a percentage of the property’s value when it is sold on to its next resident, with a higher percentage returned to you, or your estate. We encourage all parties relevant to the decision making process to meet with our sales consultants, who will provide a detailed overview of Freedom’s fee structure and answer any questions you may have. We are completely transparent about any costs and if you would like any more information please feel free to call us on 1800 647 813 or enquire here.
